MockX®: Elevating Writing Instruction and Assessment
In today’s educational landscape, preparing students for high-stakes writing assessments requires more than just strong instruction—it demands a deep understanding of how to assess and guide student work effectively. That’s where MockX® comes in.
MockX® is an intensive one-day training or 8-hour remote learning series (spread over four days) designed to enhance teachers’ ability to score benchmark essays with accuracy and confidence. Modeled after the official AP® scoring methodology, MockX® provides teachers with real-time feedback, hands-on scoring practice, and expert-led calibration to ensure consistency and fairness in assessment.
Why MockX®?
MockX® serves three primary purposes, all aimed at improving student outcomes:
- Bridging Instruction and Assessment – This event is the culmination of training and strategy application, ensuring students are well-prepared for high-stakes testing.
- Delivering Immediate Feedback – Teachers and students gain direct insights into benchmark essay performance, allowing for targeted intervention and improvement.
- Ensuring Fair and Accurate Scoring – Teachers do not grade only their own students’ essays. This anonymized, unbiased approach provides a more accurate evaluation of student writing while refining teachers’ assessment skills.
The true power of MockX® lies in its ability to help teachers:
- Internalize the scoring rubric to improve instruction.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses at specific grade levels.
- Clarify misconceptions about writing skills and content.
